About the Artist

Kristina Quinones' paintings are an exploration of control and uncertainty. Each piece is controlled by her manipulation of the form and color. When released from control, the materials she uses transform the image in a way that results in a piece that is partially her own and partially in the hands of fate.

Quinones believes that in her work, just as in life, there exists a relationship between beings. While the initial control is necessary for the relationship to begin taking it's form, it is the surrendering of control and the acceptance of chaos that indicates that a meaningful interaction has taken place.

Kristina Quinones was born and raised in Connecticut. Received her bachelor's degree in Printmaking from the University of Connecticut in 2001 then moved to California. In 2005 she received her Masters of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. Quinones has exhibited in group shows throughout the United States and is working on a new series called "interactions".
